This book explains the influence of the growth factors temperature, light, water, air humidity, carbon dioxide and nutrients, on the quality and cultivation duration of plants in flowerbeds and on balconies and patios. The possible cultivation options (cold cultivation, normal cultivation with or without a cool phase, short cultivation and cool&easy) are presented, together with a description of climate regulation strategies to save energy for their production, together with their benefits and drawbacks. The origin, requirements, selection of varieties and possible plant protection measures are presented for 20 selected species. The explanations can be used a guide to employing energy-saving production techniques.
