Early childhood education facilities are increasingly becoming the focus of social interest. Due to changes in the family, society is confronted with new demands. Especially in the areas of: Forms of cohabitation, the role of women and changes in the world of work, education must assume its responsibility in cooperation with parents in order to provide optimum support for the child and its family. In addition to the question of which support services could be useful for families with children, this paper discusses the topic of training kindergarten teachers and whether this can still meet external requirements. If childcare facilities are prepared to open up, social work concepts gain in importance and open up a new field of action. Empowerment, lifeworld-oriented social work and socio-pedagogical counseling should be mentioned in this context. Parent-child centers, which already exist in Germany, are presented as an example of successful opening. This work also deals with the concept of resilience and its practical implementation in educational settings.
