The aim of this work is to offer all those who work with Youth and Adult Education a new look at reading and literacy habits, as well as a rethink of Portuguese language teaching for this modality that is so significant and, at the same time, so relegated. I decided to do this work because "the learning of students in Youth and Adult Education is a challenge for the teacher who ventures into this educational modality, especially the Portuguese language professional, introducing them to the different ways of using the native language. Faced with the most diverse challenges, this teacher is faced with the most varied personalities, races, beliefs, ideologies and opinions in his classroom. He knows that his challenge lies in showing the potential that his pupils have, mediating knowledge and helping them to master perfectly the linguistic codes they use every day". I hope this work is useful to everyone.
