Recreation and leisure activities can have a high educational content and are important adjuncts in the educational process. However, it is necessary to have a competent professional who is aware of their roles and actions, including when dealing with non-formal educational environments, such as camps, which are experienced during leisure time. The aim of this study was to investigate, from the point of view of recreation professionals working in educational camps, how they perceive their role as educators and how they contribute to the socio-cultural development of campers.

Member of the Leisure Studies Laboratory (LEL). Coordinator of groups and programmes at Equipe de Amigos and Forma Turismo. Works on the following themes: sociology of sport and leisure, recreation and education.
