This paper presents a report on the experience of the special education coordinator in the process of implementing the national special education policy from the perspective of inclusive education in the municipality of Ibipitanga/BA. The aim was to find out about existing difficulties and the need for preparation to promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in mainstream education. In this way, we aim to investigate and debate educational theories linked mainly to the process of teacher training and their knowledge in inclusive practice in the school environment, with an emphasis on the inclusion of people with disabilities. As a result, guaranteeing the quality expressed in the law has become a challenge that involves all sectors of Brazilian public education policy.
