About the author










Frank Preston Stearns was a writer and abolitionist from Massachusetts in the 1800s. He was born in 1846 and died in 1917. His father was the abolitionist George Luther Stearns. He worked with Elizur Wright on ambitious anti-slavery projects like the American Anti-Slavery Society. He is also known for writing important books about the lives and careers of famous American authors and public figures, such as The Life and Genius of Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Life of Prince Otto von Bismarck, and The Life and Public Services of George Luther Stearns. The 4th of January 1846 saw the birth of Frank Preston Stearns in Medford, Massachusetts. On September 28, 1898, he married Emilia Maciel. They had one child after the wedding. He died in Arlington, Massachusetts, on January 21, 1917, from a brain bleed.
