The study reveals that the teachers interviewed have difficulties with the concept of Geographical Education. They have traditional conceptions of geography teaching, where conceptual content is fragmented and distant from the surrounding reality, which leads to their understanding being fragile, superficial and of little use to students. Teachers' conceptions of the concept of Geography Education and the desirable characteristics of Geography teaching are only partly compatible with the aims of Geography Education. What's more, they are poorly suited to helping to achieve Geographical Education, which goes beyond simply teaching students Geography, but aims to shape them as people and citizens. It therefore requires teaching for positive transformation, both personal and environmental.
