About the author










Jianhua Chen received his Ph.D. in Literature from Fudan University and Harvard University. Chen is currently Zhiyuan Professor at the School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His recent publications include books and articles on revolution and literary modernity, popular literature, print culture, and cinema in modern and contemporary China.

Carlos Rojas, Ph.D. (2000), Columbia University, is Professor of Chinese Cultural Studies; Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies; and Arts of the Moving Image at Duke University. He has authored, edited, and translated many books on modern Chinese literature and culture, including Homesickness: Culture, Contagion, and National Transformation in Modern China (2015, Harvard University Press).
