About the author










Douglas Model is a retired consultant physician. Before taking up medicine, he spent ten years as a navigating officer on large passenger and cargo ships running to Australasia and all over the world. He spent his childhood, aged six to eleven, living in London throughout the war. His memoir My Friend The Sea has been well received on Amazon, and he has previously written articles for the Guardian, the BMJ, Lancet and other journals. He lives in Westminster.
