Xa Tollemache describes this book as "a story book, the tale of the love story between me and the garden at Helmingham."
It is also a record of her career as a garden designer, exemplified by a range of gardens where she has worked: from her first Chelsea Flower Show garden ('I was described as "just an amateur", which was true - but I did get a Gold Medal!') by way of country and town gardens large and small, seaside gardens, historic gardens such as the Cloister Garden at Wilton House in Wiltshire, to the Global Growth Vegetable Garden at RHS Hyde Hall in Essex.

About the author

Xa Tollemache started her gardening life when she moved into Helmingham Hall in 1975, as a young wife and mother. She spent the next twenty years learning and consequently developing and improving the gardens. She trained as a garden designer and has won many awards for her designs including a Chelsea Gold Medal.
