About the author

Stephen Braun was born in Sydney in 1947 but has lived for many years in London. He has worked for much of his life as a teacher, but has also been a university librarian and tutor. His wide range of interests include English and German Literature, European History, Art, Architecture and Music -- Baroque, choral and sacred. He has a special interest in German folk-songs, and his favourite pastimes are reading and travelling around Europe.
