These deeply personal essays examine whiteness, masculinity, and a Midwest upbringing through tales of sporting events, parties, posh (and not-so-posh) restaurant jobs, and the many relationships built and lost along the way. With a storyteller's spirit, Ward recounts and evaluates the privilege of his upbringing with acumen and vulnerability. Nicholas Ward is a personal essayist, arts administrator, and company member with 2nd Story, a storytelling community. His work has appeared in

Chicago Neighborhood Guidebook. He lives in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, works as the booking manager at Young Chicago Authors, and is a community organizer with the 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice.
