About the author
Darius A. Rastegar, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has over 20 years of clinical experience treating patients with substance use disorders. His primary clinical, teaching, and research interests have been in the treatment of opioid use disorders and alcohol withdrawal. Since 2009, Dr. Rastegar has served as an editor for the NIDA-funded newsletter Alcohol, Other Drugs and Health. He is also the founder and current Program Director for the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins, which began in 2018.
Michael I. Fingerhood, MD, is Associate Professor of Medicine and Public Health, and Chief of the Division of Addiction Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. His career's mission has been to promote and improve the provision of medical care to patients with substance use disorder, including the treatment of HIV and hepatitis C, with the development, maintenance and evaluation of innovative programs.
