The objectives of the study are to identify normal values of amniotic fluid index in Sudanese pregnant ladies in second and third trimester, and also to detect causes of polyhydramnios and oligohydramnios and to correlate gestational age with amniotic fluid volume in Sudanese pregnant ladies. The data of pregnant ladies analyzed by Statistical package for social science (SPSS). The study demonstrated normal range of amniotic fluid index in Sudanese pregnant ladies from 24 - 40 weeks. The study showed that most of Sudanese pregnant ladies have normal amniotic fluid 91.4% and few pregnant ladies have abnormal amniotic fluid 8.6%. Also, it demonstrated most common causes and type of polyhydramnios and oligohydramnios in Sudanese pregnant ladies.

Mowada Burai holds a BSc in Diagnostic Radiology from Alzaiem Al-azhari University, Sudan. She also holds a master degree and a PhD in Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound from the same university. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Alzaiem Al-azhari University at the Faculty of Radiological Sciences and Medical Imaging.
