En verdad, cuando á través de cuatro centurias se ha venido denominando al Nuevo Mundo, no con el nombre excelso y glorioso del descubridor si no con el del citado navegante florentino, que ha sancionado el uso, y que por cierto se quedará para siempre, muy grato es venir á encontrar, que ese nombre no solamente no es injusto é ilegítimo, sino también el nombre verdaderamente más propio y genuino, y hasta natural é indígena del Orbe que lo lleva desde los dias de su descubrimiento.
