Putting the interaction of EU legislation and the UNESCO Convention, the UNIDROIT and Council of Europe, the author points out the potential of a judicious use of cultural heritage due to the fact that EU Member States should primarily apply EU laws. The author has drown attention to a strategy of cultural policy in two old EU Member States and referred to the principle of subsidiarity in decision -making. By presenting solutions at the level of national lists presented and the protection of cultural property to the domestic legislation in Croatia. Starting from the fact that the protection of the illegal export of cultural goods which are considered part of the national treasure, it is my opinion that this study can serve as a guide as it provides useful information about the EU policy of realizing the protection of cultural heritage.

About the author










Majda Rubi¿ was born in Split (Croatia) where she finished high school and the Faculty of Law. In Zagreb lives since 1994, where she finished after graduate scientific studies in European Law (2011), working at the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds. Nearly 28 years working on legal issues in the civil service.
