Zory Vlad Todres' monograph offers a fresh insight into an important and developed area of organic chemistry. Calixarene, cyclodextrins, and cucurbiturils as host molecules are well known, but the corresponding new and demonstrative publications deserve new exposition. This book principally widens our consideration of organic reactivity in confining media. Topics discussed include: effects of micellization, porous effects, effects of solvent cages, complexation to organometallic compounds, hydrogen-bond or charge-transfer complexation, sorption effects, effects of solvents, and stereochemical changes upon confinement. Organic Chemistry in Confining Media is useful for experienced organic chemists working in academia or industry, as well as chemists working in fields contiguous to organic chemistry.

List of contents

Encapsulation effects.- Resin-docking, surface-bound and polymer-penetration effects.- Reactions within charge-transfer complexes.- Effects of hydrogen bonding.- Effects of coordination to metals.- Effects of sorption.- Micellar effects.- Cage effects of solvents, proteins and crystal lattices.- Pore effects.- Stereochemical outcomes of confinement.- The role of solvents in confined organic and organometallic reactions.- Conclusions.

About the author

Zory Vlad Todres holds a Ph.D. in chemical technology and Sc.D. (a doctor habilitatus) in physical organic chemistry. He has published several hundred papers on electron- and charge-transfer phenomena, on metal-coordination assemblage and on reactions of organic substrates influenced by sorption. Previously, he has published the following books: "Organic Ion-Radicals", “Chalcogenadiazoles”, "Organic Mechanochemistry", and "Ion-Radical Organic Chemistry". With his books, Z.V. Todres aspires to engraft new and practically important branches to the great tree of organic chemistry. The proposed book on confined effects in organic chemistry is also a step to this direction. His published books are much in demand and have been well-received by the chemical community.
