About the author

Carl Spitzweg (1808 - 1885) lebte sein ganzes Malerleben lang in München. Der Autodidakt war befreundet mit Franz von Pocci und Franz von Kobell und unternahm zahlreiche Reisen, so nach Prag, Paris und London. 1868 wurde er Ehrenmitglied der Münchner Akademie.
