Type 2 diabetes is a non communicable disease considered as a world pandemic, especially in developing countries (Africa, Asia). Diabetic foot is one of the most frequent and most serious complications. It's a great burden for African countries regarding its cost. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of diabetic foot in Comeroon, the risks factors and clinical characteristics of diabetic foot in an African diabetic population. To curb the rising burden of diabetic foot, health intervention programmes must lay emphasis on prevention (education of patients and diabetic care givers, screening) and a multidisciplinary approach in the management of diabetic foot problems. In sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Cameroon, the priority must be in education of patients and diabetic care givers.
