"Chemistry must go beyond 'being a science' and embrace the concept of 'being a science for the benefit of society'". Chemistry should be multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and even transdisciplinary, "recognizing that valuable knowledge can be found in the spaces between defined disciplines, addressing the complexity of problems and the diversity of perceptions of them". With the advanced technology there is a tremendous progress in chemistry and it's in the field of green chemistry, environmental chemistry, computational chemistry, combinatorial chemistry, nanochemistry etc. Chemists are expected to make significant contribution for various priority problem faced by people all over the world. As nature is a vast reservoir of substances there is a lot of opportunity and space for the chemist to satisfy their thirst. The story of chemistry is the story of materials, discoveries, properties and applications which led to the development and manufacture of life saving drugs, food, fertilizer, polymer, optical fibers, nanotechnology and new engineering technologies which supports day to day human life on earth.
