His work was firft publi¿led in 1782, and feveral additions were made to it, in con fequence of the pay-othee aét pafted in 1783, and the new militia act in 1786. But lince the iii of January 1788, very confiderahle alterations hav ing been made in the pay and allowances of the army, a new edition was rendered abfolutely neceftary.
