This New Casebook provides an overview of the criticism of work by Toni Morrison, the first African-American woman to win the Nobel prize for literature, and an introduction to the key works and issues in African-American literary scholarship. LINDEN PEACH is Reader in Contemporary Literature, Loughborough University. He was previously Principal Lecturer and Head of the School of English, Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds. He is the author of Toni Morrison, Macmillan Modern Novelists Series, 1995, and his other publications include: Angela Carter, Macmillan 1997; Ancestral Lines: Culture and Identity in the Work of Six Contemporary Poets (Seren Books, 1993); and, with Angela Burton, English as a Creative Art: Literary Concepts Linked to Creative Writing (Fulton, 1995).
