To indicate the objects of interest, of which there are so many in the city of Washington, and how to find them to give the facts pertaining to each so far as thev would interest the average visitor, without a statement of dry details to meet the needs of the great class of people that visit to see the sights, and who must needs spend but little time in the seeing;-to supply these wants, and not to give history, biography, or scientific information, has been the object attempted, and, it is hoped, attained.
