After the war, Dawson moved to the United States, where he continued to write and publish novels, often exploring themes related to war, heroism, and the human condition. His most notable works include books about the emotional struggles of soldiers, focusing on the personal and collective costs of war. Dawson's works also delve into the impact of the conflict on both the soldiers and their loved ones, offering an intimate portrayal of bravery and the human spirit amidst chaos. He lived until August 10, 1959, when he passed away in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 76.
