When I originally started to write this book, I was an unpublished author. I had a few games represented in magazines, but not a single boxed game on the market. Today, the archive of my works contains more than 600 published games in more than 2000 boxed editions, and more than 20 million copies have been sold all over the world.

Over the course of those years, a number of games in this book developed into fully fledged boxed games with specifically adapted materials.
It's interesting to see how some of the games evolved. Goldrush was published as a Wild West card game under its original title Goldrausch, Goal became a soccer card game Tor, Swap was developed into the recently published board game Polynesia, Sono became the tile laying game Robot Master, and Card Chase is now the card game Escalation.

Dr. Reiner Knizia is one of the world's most successful and prolific game designers. More than 700 of his games and books have been published worldwide in over 50 languages. With sales exceeding 20 million copies, he has won numerous international awards, including the prestigious Spiel des Jahres.
Reiner Knizia has a Master of Science degree from Syracuse University (USA) and a PHD in Mathematics from Ulm University (Germany). Before dedicating himself to the full-time development of games, he was the Operations Director of a £ 10 billion mortgage company based in the United Kingdom.
Reiner Knizia has had teaching assignments at various international universities and institutions on Learning Techniques, Management and Game Design.
