The capitals, as seen in the above diagrams, resemble the letters of the Signal Alphabet already given, the 0 representing the body of the person signalizing; in the small letters the O is omitted. This written alphabet might be used for cipher or secret correspondence, and by agreement between correspondents, each symbol might represent a different letter from that assigned to it in the above plate.
