Su carácter. En atención al sonido único y abierto de sus vocales, bien se puede asegurar ser la claridad el distin tivo y cualidad característica del benga, aunque esa misma claridad acarrea alguna dificultad al principio. La circuns tancia de terminar casi todos sus nombres y muchos de ellos empezar por vocal, a fin de evitar la repugnante cacofonia y sonido áspero que resulta del choque de las dos vocales, les induce a cada paso a echar mano de la elisión en el len guaje hablado, y de consiguiente del apóstrofo en el escrito.
