Über den Autor / die Autorin
Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling (1775-1854) war neben Fichte und Hegel derrdritte Hauptvertreter des "Deutschen Idealismus". Nach anfänglicher Begeisterung für Fichtes "Ich Philosophie" stellte er die Absolutheit der Vernunft in Frage und beschäftigte sich intensiv mit der Naturphilosophie: Der Geist ist nicht voraussetzungslos, sondern hat seine Vorformen in der lebendigen Natur. Schelling übte auch einen großen Einfluss auf die Frühromantiker aus. Im Jahr 1841 wurde er nach Berlin an den vakanten Lehrstuhl Hegels berufen, wo er nach Willen Friedrich Wilhelms IV. "die Drachensaat des Hegel'schen Pantheismus" bekämpfen sollte.
